1. Who we are
DocScanX (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a document-scanning application for iPhone developed by Axain Studios. This policy explains what information the app processes and how it is handled. It applies to your use of the DocScanX app.
2. Your documents & scans
The documents you scan or import are the heart of the app, and they are treated as private to you:
- Scans, page images, and the text recognized from them are stored locally on your device, inside the app’s private storage area.
- Text recognition (OCR) is performed entirely on your device using Apple’s Vision framework. The contents of your documents are not transmitted to Axain Studios or to any third party for this purpose.
- We do not operate a server that receives, stores, or backs up your documents. We have no ability to view them.
- If you use Apple’s iCloud device backup, your app data may be included in that backup under your own Apple account and Apple’s terms. This is handled by Apple, not by us.
3. Information we process
DocScanX does not require an account, and we do not ask you for your name, email address, or other identifying details to use the app. The information involved in running the app is limited to:
- Content you create — your scans, documents, folders, titles, and recognized text. As described above, this stays on your device.
- App settings and preferences — such as whether app lock is enabled and your onboarding status. These are stored locally on your device.
- Advertising and diagnostic data — collected by the third-party services described in the next section, subject to your choices.
4. Advertising
The free version of DocScanX shows ads, which are delivered through Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, AdMob may process information such as a device identifier, approximate (non-precise) location derived from your IP address, and ad-interaction data. This processing is governed by Google’s policies:
- Google Privacy Policy — policies.google.com/privacy
- How Google uses information from partner apps — policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
On iOS, before any tracking that uses the device’s advertising identifier takes place, the app presents Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, personalized tracking that relies on that identifier is not used. Your documents are never used for advertising and are never shared with advertisers.
Upgrading to Premium removes ads.
5. Purchases
DocScanX offers a one-time in-app purchase (“Premium”). Purchases and any restoration of purchases are handled by Apple’s App Store and StoreKit. Payment is processed by Apple — we do not receive or store your payment card details. Apple provides us only with the anonymized information needed to confirm a valid purchase and to keep it available across your devices. Apple’s handling of this transaction is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
6. Face ID & app lock
You can optionally lock DocScanX behind Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. Authentication is performed by iOS through Apple’s LocalAuthentication framework. The app never accesses or stores your biometric data — it only receives a success/failure result from the system.
7. Device permissions
DocScanX requests only the permissions needed to do its job, and only when relevant:
- Camera — to capture scans. Camera images are used solely to create your documents on device.
- Photo library — only if you choose to import an existing image.
- Tracking — presented via the App Tracking Transparency prompt, as described in the Advertising section.
You can review or change these permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app.
8. Storage & deletion
Because your documents live on your device, you are in control of them. You can delete any individual document, page, or folder within the app at any time. Deleting the DocScanX app from your device removes the documents and app data stored on that device. We hold no server-side copy to delete on your behalf.
9. Children
DocScanX is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, if we add features or a legal requirement changes. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be reflected in the app or on this page.
